Mid-Am celebrates success amidst changes in format and management
The Mid-America Horticultural Trade Show (Mid-Am) celebrates its success and announces changes with the closing of their most successful show to date.
After announcing record attendance and exhibitor participation levels at their show this past January, Mid-Am organizers also announced the retirement of Donn W. Sanford, managing director of the show. Mr. Sanford stepped down as managing director at the close of Mid-Am 2000. Rand Baldwin, currently assistant managing director of the Mid-Am and 20-year veteran of business and trade show management was named as Mr. Sanford's successor.
Mr. Sanford, however, leaves his position on a high note. Held for the first time over a Wednesday to Friday, Mid-Am attracted a record attendance and exhibitor participation levels with almost 12,000 people visiting 573 exhibitors at the Navy Pier in Chicago.
The Midwinter Conference, held in conjunction with the Mid-Am also enjoyed success with over 900 people registering for 28 seminars. The Student Career Center provided a positive and casual atmosphere for employers and students, attracting over 100 employees and more than 200 students to sit down and discuss employment and career options.
